I suppose you haven’t heard
that those sickly sweet gushings
of love pronounced publicly
just betray an emptied heart

dancing rain specks
flirt with headlights
behaving like
furtive snow flakes
pretending just
like you in their
floaty dreaming
pseudo snowscapes

retracing my steps over
sayings retracted
mistakes enacted
suffering cyclic’ly from
thinking distended
learning protracted
