From the pub to the pitch

In this week’s photo essay, I covered what it was like to visit a bar at 9 a.m. on a Sunday (for a soccer game, of course). My friend Johnny and I enjoyed our trip to Benson and St. Andrews Pub. My team, Tottenham Hotspur, beat West Ham, his team…I think I relished my morning just slightly more.

The photo essay for next week, however, will take a slightly different turn. Instead of a day-in-the-life point of view, this one will be a more informational piece. I’ll look closely at the University of Nebraska-Omaha’s Caniglia Field soccer pitch.

I plan to interview a member of the staff who care for the field itself, shedding light on exactly what goes into keeping it in top shape. UNO’s soccer teams are currently in the middle of their seasons, so the field is definitely well-used.

My photos will depict the artificial field at multiple stages of its daily life. It’s more than just a bed of plastic, and you’re about to find out how.
