If you have been watching LinkedIn, you will have noticed that they have been doing some really amazing things. LinkedIn started off as what was known as a business professional networking site. Now they are doing a lot of fascinating things with recruiting, business services as well as the acquisition of Lynda.com to provide education information to individuals. LinkedIn is now more than just a professional networking site ¾ it’s becoming an entire ecosystem for organizations to find top talent and for individuals to find these organizations as well. I’ve done some research and interviews with some of the executives at LinkedIn to find out what it’s like to work there and what they are thinking about doing. I think the next few years are going to be very, very interesting to watch. However, I think there is one thing LinkedIn is lacking and that is the subject of this Future in 5 episode. That one thing is transparency around work. And, the company I think they would benefit most from acquiring is Glassdoor. I give an in-depth explanation of my reasoning in this episode, but to summarize, I think Glassdoor and LinkedIn is the next logical relationship. Such an alignment would add that layer of transparency into what LinkedIn is trying so hard to foster around attracting and retaining top talent, and giving potential candidates that visibility and transparency into those jobs that they are looking to apply for. What do you think would happen in that type of an acquisition? Is there another company that you think might make an interesting acquisition for LinkedIn? Tune in and leave me your comments!

This month’s content on the future of work was made possible by my friends at Work Market. Work Market is a freelance management system that brings freelancers and organizations together. As the freelancer economy continues to grow organizations are going to have to think differently about how they service, innovate, and compete in the future of work.
