This episode of The Future In 5 I talk about why people become freelancers. The freelance economy is one of the most exciting trends that I’m seeing over the next few years. For example, studies show that by 2020, 40 percent of the workforce will become freelancers. And, we are starting to see the rise of organizations offering freelance and on-demand work. What that means for organizations is that they are going to have to think differently about what it means to innovate, service and compete. So, why are people becoming freelancers to begin with? Being a freelancer for the past eight years, I share some insights into my experience as well as some common reasons such as freedom and flexibility, autonomy, no income ceiling ¾ choices. Basically, you are your own boss. I think there has never been a better time than now to become a freelancer. I’ll be exploring this further in the coming weeks. So, tune in!

This month’s content on the future of work was made possible by my friends at Work Market. Work Market is a freelance management system that brings freelancers and organizations together. As the freelancer economy continues to grow organizations are going to have to think differently about how they service, innovate, and compete in the future of work.
