As Wikipedia states: Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on February 4, 2019, without any prior announcement or marketing.
It has already passed 50 milion players online, and still grows pretty fast. I’m playing it on PS4 from the day it came out, and it doesn’t matter if I’m winning or losing, I still enjoy playing, which is part of the magic of Battle Royale games to be honest.
I am subscribed to Apex Legends official reddit, and it was fun to watch how community exploded with fanarts, videos of some amazing plays, and just having fun with Apex in general, but lately the community of PC players is dominated by one topic. Cheaters. Cheaters everywhere. PC players in China in particular say that Apex is nearly unplayable, that there’s hardly a game where there’s no cheater logged in. That is a problem Electronic Arts and Respawn are trying to solve, succesfully detecting some of the cheaters, and hardware banning them which means that they have to buy a new computer to play the game again (which is by the way one of the best way to cope with cheating). But there’s one cheat you can buy for around 100$, and it’s creator says that it’s undetectable, and won’t get you banned. (EDIT: from the time we had our talk, Apex rolled out couple of banwaves, so I’m not sure if this statement is still true or not)
I reach out to him, to talk about cheating in games and his profession. We talked through Telegram, and this is our whole conversation:
What is your name, how old are you and what do you do for living?
My name is Mark, im 29 and i work in IT for a living.
Are you a gamer yourself?
Yea, Gaming is definitely fun. But you know that’s why people start to cheat, because otherwise its no fun to them.
Game is always where someone loses, and someone wins. And theres people that always lose and they feel frustrated maybe so they go on to cheat.
So when i play, its mainy LOL or some MMO games.
Do you work alone?
I don’t work alone, it’s more of like a community of us doing things. Working together is the key when you want to reach anything.
Why do you do what you do?
Why i do what i do? Well, you know first of all for the memes. Than, it’s for the business side also relevant kinda. Thats why most people at the moment get started selling or making hacks, just to get some small bucks.
I used to do what I do just for kicks, but now I do it for revenge.
One friend of mine that I made the hack for infinite ammo in Devil May Cry 2 reported me to Sony and Capcom. They sent someone to my house who pretended to offer me a job working for them since I was so deftly able to circumvent their code and break their game, but in reality he was using a WiFi spoofer chip embedded in his phone to wipe my hard drive and install a fresh copy of Windows Vista on my PC.
He now works for the company Easy Anti-Cheat and I can never forgive him for what he did. I hate Windows Vista. So it is my goal in life to make him miserable. (EDIT: Please take this paragraph with a grain of salt, and remember — he does things for the memes, so I’m sure he just wanted to put some BS into our conversation just to make fun of me/our listeners. ;))
Do you know how much of an impact does hacks have on games, and gaming community? How does it make you feel?
My Hacks dont have any impact at all almost on the whole game. Like, i can tell you i have maybe over 100 users roughly. And Apex has how many users? 40 Million. The real Hack and dicks that have a impact on the game are those that sell daily access, and also the chinese hacks.
You know, you have to differentiate. Chinese Hacks — NA / EU Hacks. Their just.. different. From pricing and also from safety & features. China likes to rage — and cheap. No more than 2$ for a day. (On average here in EU if some sell day key its around 7–10 $).
So thats a big big difference. 2$ vs. 10$.
Than also, chinese people are cheaters in persona, if you feel me. Well i havent been ever to china so i would be careful what im saying.
But what im saying, is that they have this culture of cheating already in their DNA (kind of). From input that you can get over here in Europe it seems that chinese really are more likely to cheat than someone over here. We have this sort of competitiveness you know, we trust each other to play fair, if you go over to most big gamign communites.
But in China, Cheaters are just so much, some Cheats (for example for PUBG) could sell up to 20.000 Day Keys daily.
So that’s quite alot of money involved also, if you do a quick google search on chinese cheating you can also read on how they work.
Its just, they are pretty professional, it’s their profession when they do it.
I do know precisely how much of an impact hacks have on games, and the community as a whole. I like to think of gaming and fun as a “pie” and hacks are like the crust on that pie. Some people may not like crust, but others will eat the pie crust and even tell their friends what a delicious pie crust it was.
It makes me feel great that people will talk about my pie crust. I don’t mind the people who don’t eat the pie crust, because I don’t make it for them.
How did you get into the hacking community?
The hacking community is a very diverse place, and hard to gain entry into. I managed to find my first in with the community by ordering pizza on a daily basis from different pizza chains (hackers tend to have low key jobs like delivery driver) and asking the delivery driver things like:
“Do you like to scam? Do you like memes? Have you ever made a hack?”
Until one day, I struck gold.
Like that, its more for the memes. We dont take shit seriously, and honestly, i think people should calm down if you go on to cheaters and say “what a dick” “ kill yourself fag” etc.
So, to conclude just with the china part. Its different things ok. Its not like china comes to us and buy our cheats. Nah, they have their own professional devs.
And know whats funny ay? They always arrest people over there. Like, a TON of people! Also in korea, just recently 2 big Cheatsellers were arrested, and now everybody closed down their cheat stores because their just scared af.
So guess what → other people come and continue business
Kill one, 10 new will come. Its like ISIS.
You cannot defeat cheating, you can just “fight” it. By detecting cheats. Thats probably the most effective way to fight it.
Because after 1 Detection you know, the cheat users gonna say “hey well shit it was detected but u know it happens”. and if you have more than 2 detections in just a month or so, than your RIP just.
For Fortnite, thats the case.

Apex is a joke now kinda
but you will see, once they start rolling out first real banwaves and HWID Bans
You will see alot of decrease in cheating.
For now, they just allow it to happen, and focus on active development instead of trying to hotfix things.
And, even after they fix it, cheats will than on just get more expensive and more private.
Who buys your hacks mainly? Chinese gamers? Should I even call them gamers?
Simply people who want to be little bit better. people that dont have time to invest 5 hrs daily in a game to get good.
But, they have money. Thats about it.
My Cheat Users are so small part. and they play very stealth. Means they play it safe and dont rage on like a retard.
Let’s talk about the business side of it — is it worth your time and energy?
Business side? Well its always worth it, from the first $ you get there. But u know the big money is made elsewhere. From Big cheat providers (that are scam / detected) like IWantCheats.net.
They say you’re one of the best in terms of support — do you feel the competition from other hackers, and just like in „normal” business support is the thing that makes you special as a supplier?
Well your referring to my feedbacks. Thats alright you know. It just how i like to deal with people. I dont give a shit about formalities, you know if somebody feels disrespected or dont like something about what i say, i tell him to fuck off basically. thats a privilege in this business lol. But 99% i can get a good handle of what people need and how i can give it to them.
and ofc theres some chinese gamers that buy my cheat, the Chinese gamers who buy my hack want to be artificially “better” than others because simply put they don’t have the time to put into the game to be naturally good at it. It takes a lot of time to make the amount of steamed dumplings that the average Chinese gamer has to make over the course of a day, so that leaves little time to practice.
and as you see, im pretty fast in typing, and normally i respond also faster than yesterday.
I do not want to compete with others directly. Because that just creates hate etc. You know, its all cheaters & hackers. You cant expect anything good from them. Loosers in life, sometimes so just need to be careful who you bullshitting. Otherwise flame is coming back. And of course, you can counter that but in the end it stands over you in the internet. And people going to see that.
Same as cyberbullying kinda. Of course you can delete and block it. Of course you can punish people for it. But in the end it stands there, people see it and thats about it.
So you need to be very careful who ur fucking with in this mad business.
Most of people you deal with is kids anyways
My Hacks are priced high not without a reason. Because i do not get kids that pm me to buy.
All my customers are just normal people, with a normal job u know we have some smalltalk sometimes.
Just, i dont deal with kids thats it.

In EU / NA there has not been a SINGLE case of anybody being actually arrested for making cheats
Its just not worth it for them. EU / NA cheaters are making such a small amount of all cheaters
as i told you, i have just around over 100 users.
why to sue anybody for that.
You claim, that your Apex Legends hack is undetectable, and won’t get you banned from the game — what if someone from Respawn buys your hack and tries to decode it, and ban all of your clients ?
My Apex Hack is indeed undetected (unlike the rest of the competition) and didnt get anybody banned.
EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) doesnt buy cheats and decode it
thats a wrong conception
because than, they would had to do it with all cheats
and believe me, theres hundreds if not thousands of hacks out there for apex
They just fix their own Game
Respawn is the game dev studio, they dont do the active anticheat, thats EACs job.
Considering the yesterdays announcement of Google Stadia — do you think it will be hack-resitant, and will provide more console-closed-hack-free environment for gamers? From your point of view — do you think this is the future of gaming?
Google Stadia will be about as good as Google+ was. 9 people will use it, and then it will disappear.
Nobody wants to HAVE to be constantly connected to the internet to play their games. Google can take an L, and to be honest, they can also look at these nuts.
