BEEN THERE, DONE THAT: I’VE BEEN SEARCHING FOR MY PURPOSE IN LIFE TOO
At the young age of 8, I was staring into the coffin of one of my favorite uncles. I was enjoying childhood too much to inquire about life but this death thing had me puzzled. So, like any child when faced with the unknown, I asked a million questions.
If you had been an eye-witness to this event, you would have seen adults avoiding me like I had some deadly viral infection. I even had the pastor on the run. I did corner him as he came from the bathroom and hit him with a barrage of questions. He looked to my mom for mercy and she quickly pulled me away.
If I had been satisfied with the first answer, I swear that I would not have asked the same question over and over. I did, however, discover two things at my young age:
1. When confronted with a question from a child, an adult will “make shit up” instead of saying they don’t know.
2. What adults do “know” is usually based upon social and traditional thinking…
