AILA warns that additional U.S. travel bans may be in the works
The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) sent out a notice to their members that states that “unconfirmed rumors” are circulating about new countries that may be added to the current travel ban that was put in to place through Trump’s recent executive order.
The executive order that was signed (which was partially stayed by a federal court) put travel restrictions on visa and Green Card holders from the following seven countries: Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.
The rumors suggest that the following countries could be added:
- Egypt
- Lebanon
- Afghanistan
- Pakistan
- Colombia
- Venezuela
- Southern Philippines
- Trans-Sahara (Mali)
- Sulu/Sulawesi Seas Littoral

We don’t have confirmation and while we don’t want to add to the hysteria, we thought this might be useful information for you and your clients in the event it turns out to be true.
