Fox News Pundit Gets COVID-19 and LGBTQ Pride Wrong
Queer folks KNOW public health!
At least one leading pundit on the Right seems to believe LGBTQ people and allies will change our tune about COVID-19 lockdowns when Pride events get canceled. She’s drawn a pointed reaction from queer folks everywhere. We have this to tell her: First, we already took the initiative to cancel Pride events. Second, we know how to listen to and ally with scientists. Third, we’ll shout out irrepressible Pride this year even as we shelter in place and work hard to stop COVID-19 in its tracks. Just like we’re stopping HIV.

We’ve “been there, done that” with HIV/AIDS. Back in the day, we got damn good at beating the odds to stay alive. From the beginning of the 1980s when a mysterious “gay cancer” first began stalking LGBTQ meccas, we battled a raging pandemic from both inside and outside the US public health system.
