Fascism claims continue as USAID appointees stir protest

As writers for the Guardian and Maclean’s now openly call US President Donald Trump an aspiring fascist, he seems to be doubling down. From having peaceful BLM protesters gassed and brutalized so he could hold up a Bible for a photo op, to attempting to use active duty military units against American citizens, Trump seems to pass up no authoritarian impulse.

But behind the scenes, things might be even worse. In actions mostly unknown to the American public, the Trump administration has engaged in a string of bizarre appointments that threaten the structure of American liberal democracy itself.

Here’s a tale of just one federal agency where Trump is filling senior leadership positions with people remarkably unqualified for their posts — and politically so fringe they’d be at home in only the most rabid right-wing movements.
