An image I made for the occasion. xD

On the day that I am writing this, freeCodeCamp was established 1000 days ago!

With 75% of startups failing, it is a huge achievement for an awesome web-app to stay free, promise to stay free, and still be free after 1,000 days! Being a non-profit, freeCodeCamp relies on donations and community support.

Let’s take a look at what freeCodeCamp has done so far:

  • 35,301,964 challenges have been completed so far! With every challenge completed, learners learn more and more skills.
  • More than 6,000 campers have gotten their first developer jobs! This is crazy, as this shows that freeCodeCamp curriculum actually works! That it is leading people into the tech industry!
  • More than 7,000 experienced developers have gotten even better developer jobs! This means that freeCodeCamp’s curriculum has lessons that go beyond the skill levels of some developers! This shows even more, that you can become an experienced developer on freeCodeCamp!
  • 5,588 people earned the Front End Certificate! This means that freeCodeCamp, being completely free has taught 5,000 people Front End skills, that apply to the real world!
  • 750 people earned the Data Visualization Certificate! This means that freeCodeCamp has compelled 750 people to make a change in their lives, and learn data visualization. With the order of the curriculum, it is certain that these 750 people have great determination.
  • 485 people earned the Back End Certificate! This is great, as freeCodeCamp has taught 485 people the in-n-outs of back end development!
  • 308 people earned all three certificates! This is the hardest statistic to be on, as freeCodeCamp has over 2080 hours of coding experience available!

In the end, aligning with freeCodeCamp’s goal, 30 nonprofits have been helped from graduated campers. With all this experience in 1000 days, freeCodeCamp will surely be even better in the next milestone!

For all the changes to come, thank you Quincy Larson, as you have created a community learning platform that actually works! Thank you to the 635 contributors on the freeCodeCamp GitHub repository. Thank you peterWeinberg for creating an alumni network for the community. Thank you to the writers on the freeCodeCamp medium publication. Thank you to all the people that have gone through the freeCodeCamp’s curriculum giving me hope and determination. Thank you to all the people I haven’t even mentioned!

Thank you.
