Incorporating classical instruments like the violin into modern music is no easy feat, and is somewhat unconventional. However, Bay Area violinist Nate Guinto makes it look easy. Nowadays, it seems as though jazz-infused hip-hop and R&B is an underappreciated art. With catchy pop lyrics and a fresh beat, Nate Guinto’s EP showcases the music student’s talent with songwriting, vocals and instrumentals.

Guinto’s EP Songs for the Nice Guy is his homage to the gentleman, and defeats the tropes we see in typical rap and hip-hop. The violin accompaniment goes hand in hand with Guinto’s smooth, R&B vocals. The tracks “French 38” and “Better Without Me” showcase his talent with the instrument as well as his vocal range. All in all, Songs for the Nice Guy is catchy, and would definitely suit the general demographic of new age R&B.

Even if you are a casual fan of poppy R&B, this EP is impressive and can take even the untypical crowd by a pleasant surprise. Songs for the Nice Guy is definitely an EP worth giving a chance to, and is perfect for easy listening.

Though his EP is available to listen on Bandcamp, it would definitely reach a wider audience if it were distributed onto Spotify. Good thing that that’s what we do at Jamout, so newer artists can be given a chance to be discovered without the micro managing. We also offer discounted studio sessions, so that the next album will sound better than the last; So that new talent like Nate Guinto can be enjoyed the way he’d want it to be. Be on the lookout for Nate’s new album soon to release on Apple Music and Spotify!
