Make an appointment to see your gynecologist. Wait several weeks or months for an appointment while wondering how you could sweat this much every day and still gain weight.

If your annual exam is scheduled sooner, you can tell your doctor about your troublesome perimenopausal symptoms then but know that this will result in an added fee for your visit. Checkups are not for problems, they are just for checking!

Everyone knows that “women’s health” means just checking women periodically, awkwardly, embarrassingly, and sometimes painfully, for breast and cervical cancer. It doesn’t cover awkward, embarrassing, or painful bodily changes resulting from entering your perimenopausal era, or the mental health effects of said changes.

When you arrive for your appointment, be prepared to wait a least 34 minutes in the waiting room, even if you arrive 179 minutes early, have the first appointment of the day, and hold the door open for the receptionist.

After your name is called, you’ll be invited to use a bathroom you’ve been conditioned to pee in whenever offered…
