Many couples on Halloween go for the predictable costumes to show off their commitment. However these outfits often come across as cliché. Classic pairings like peanut butter and jelly also indicate that the love the two share doesn’t run very deep.

This is because most “happy” classic pairings are simple, easy, and without the drama that proves the couple overcame any obstacles. To show you really love the other person through a costume, you should consider using tragic couples from books as inspiration.

Cathy and Heathcliff

A super fun costume for those who love period clothes. Heathcliff is a straightforward Victorian male, a white shirt and vest should do the trick. For Cathy a long white nightdress is a good option, the hair should also be loose and free, like her spirit in life.
