I Would Do Anything for My Children As Long As It Doesn’t Affect My Lifestyle Brand
Hello everyone! Mommy Mindi here, with an update. As some of you have noticed, Bradley has not been in our videos or photos lately. So I’m here to be vulnerable and let you know what’s been going on behind the camera. What kind of mother would I be if I let you, my followers, suffer from the anxiety that comes from uncertainty?
I’m devastated to announce that sweet Bradley is no longer with us. He’s not dead! He simply is no longer representing our family. Six months ago Bradley, my husband, and I came to the mutual agreement that Bradley would be happier with another family that better aligned with his values. He let us know he was ready for the transfer. As his adopted mom, I could understand that he, an autistic six-year-old, understood the difficult situation he’d placed me and his father in. Firing your child is never easy, especially when they are the only non-white child in the house.
Motherhood is a blessing, but also a business. Sometimes you have to make hard choices. What did you think the mommy bloggers meant when they said motherhood involves sacrifice? It was difficult but I had to sacrifice Bradley or his presence might hinder my ability to make a living off my other children.
Still, I was aware we’d come under fire for our decision due to optics. People have accused me of using the baby only for content and then throwing him away when he was no longer bankable. They said, “You’re a mom, not Disney!”
All of this negativity makes me cry. I’m just going to dry my eyes very quickly with this Blip tissue. Wow! These Blip tissues are so soft. The quality really shows. They are bringing me a modicum of comfort as I imagine a future without Bradley.
Listen, when I first saw baby Bradley I actually started to sob. My own flawlessly blond children brought me joy. But I felt something was missing. So did my marketing manager. I wanted another baby anyway, so why not choose to adopt a child who needed love and who would appeal to a different target demographic in a way my own darlings could not?
You all saw the journey! Those videos and photos have millions of views. That little angel gave you so much content. The fact that he also gave us so much profit and more sponsors does not detract from that happiness he brought you or us. If anything, it adds to our grief that things didn’t work out. We are really the victims here when you think about it.
I swear, we sincerely tried to integrate Bradley into the family. Yet we hadn’t expected his condition to be so difficult to manage. We gave him so much love, why was that not enough to stop his outbursts and non-ideal behavior? Doesn’t love conquer all, including autism? I couldn’t put laundry detergent next to a sobbing non-white child! Think of what the comments would say. He was jeopardizing the other children’s chance of going viral. So, after several warnings to improve his performance, he was let go.
We weren’t monsters! We helped him get interviews and eventually got him a placement in a smaller company. I mean family! He is thriving. Now we hope that everyone focuses on the positive side of Bradley’s story. I suggest looking at some of the past videos in which he was obviously very happy. Yes, those videos are monetized, but that money will help ease the ache in our hearts.
Nothing can replace our son though. Nor the hours of work that went into producing those videos, so please stop telling us to take them down.
I’m sorry! I just need to cry over losing my little boy for a moment. In case you’re wondering these tissues are made by a company called Blip. They absorb tears 10x better than other leading brands. Blip is sponsoring today’s grief video. If you need to wipe a runny noses or dab definitely-not-fake tears, order for your box of Blip today.
Thank you for being here and listening to my side of the story. Please comment below to let me know how much you support my decision. Negative comments will be flagged and removed.
That’s all for today! In our next video I’ll give you 7 helpful hacks to get your children to smile more. This is particularly helpful as they age and start to realize that their entire lives are available for public viewing.
