Ode to Hot Girl Summer

Did thou watchest my reels?

In honor of the late great Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, who would be 226 years old on August 30.

Gentlepeople,

let me tell you

the tale of it,

how I did summer

these hot, steamy nights —

Thou didst see me

in London’s fine streets,

traveling aimlessly,

wandering meanderingly

on various hot girl walks.

And thou didst see me

pluck ripe plums

from tallest trees,

cradle them to bosom,

and proclaim them “juicy.”

And thou didst see me

conversing with

various gentlemen

of various estates

in various wide-brimmed hats.

And, please believe!

I had options —

so I cobbled them together

and made a mega-man,

a five-star freak.
