Right now indoor dates are hard to organize. Forget a romantic dinner at an over-priced steakhouse or a quirky game of bowling. Since those options are off the table, try taking the romance outside with of these romantic outdoor date ideas. That special someone will end up itching for more. Or maybe just itching.

Date idea #1: A picnic at a cute lookout spot.

Your date will be so entranced with the delicious picnic you created that they won’t even notice you forgot to bring the bug spray. What’s more, a high vantage point is the perfect place to discuss the question, “What are we?” Your journey there will have you brushing up against each other as well as mosquito-filled foliage. By the time you arrive, your feelings won’t be the only thing you’re itching to get off your chest.

Date idea #2: Apple picking in early October.

Early October is a great time to go pick up apples and a blood-borne disease at your local orchard. Get in the fall spirit as you and your loved one pay $50 to perform manual labor so you can take home a small box of rotten apples in exchange for an Instagram photo that filters out the millions of blood-suckers.

Date idea #3: A bike ride through very unpopulated part of the forest.

This is the perfect way to show someone that you want to be alone with them even with the impending threat of getting lost. Battle your deep fears of being murdered in the woods and rub her arms with the mosquito repellent that will do nearly nothing for the growing sense of unease you feel as darkness sets in and you lose the path. Don’t worry! The mosquitoes will never forsake either of you.

Date idea #4: A moonlight walk through the marshes.

There’s really no better place to get to know someone quickly than a critter-filled swampland. Put her to the test physically and mentally as you see exactly how many mosquito bites and interactions with strange slimy creatures she can withstand before bailing on you and never speaking to you again.

Date idea #5: A quick swim in the watermelon wading pool you haven’t emptied out since the summer.

This date idea is the perfect way to show either a new love or an old flame that you are resourceful when all the pools closed this summer you said “No, no! I will make my own pool or at least buy one from target.” The stagnate water will reflect your earnest faces as you confess your love. It will also reflect the deep discomfort you experience as the swarm who’ve been born from these still waters descend upon both of you to feast.
