1. Kyoto Kit-Kats
Kit-Kat might be already on your souvenir list when you plan to visit Japan but if you are visiting Kyoto, the local flavour of Kit-Kats is something you should definitely shop. Flavours of “Uji-Matcha”, Kyoto’s traditional sweets “Yatsuhashi” and another significant tea from Kyoto “Hojicha” are limitedly available in Kyoto!
2. UCHU Wagashi
Rakugan is Kyoto’s traditional sweets made with Kyoto’s finest sugar called “Wasanbon”. Uchu Wagashi gives a pop kick to the traditional sweets and made it very cute and colourful.

3. Kitsune Senbei (キツネせんべい)
Kitsune Senbei is sold at Inariya in the site of the most visited shrine in Kyoto, Fushimi Inari Taisha. The cracker is the shape of fox which is the symbol of this shrine as the servants of the gods.

4. Konpeito (金平糖)
Kompeito is a traditional Japanese sugar candy. Ryokujuan Shimizu is a long established Kompeito store in Kyoto and it’s the only one shop in Japan which deal ONLY with Kompeito.

5. Maiko chan BonBon (舞子ちゃんボンボン)
Colourful and cute bonbon sweets are shaped in essential items of Maiko (apprentice Geisha) such as Geta (sandals), Hair Ornaments and Kimono. These bonbon contains alcohol so it’s perfect gift for adult.

6. Kyo Baum (京ばあむ)
Kyo Baum is baumkuchen cake made with Tonyu (tofu milk) and the dough mixed with Kyoto’s finest matcha and sencha tea. This has been the best selling souvenir in Kyoto in a last couple of years! Kyo Baum can be found at many souvenir stores in Kyoto.
7. Hiyoko Hozui (ひよこほうずい)
The most adorable sweets ever! This chic faced sweets are sold at Kyoto Marun which mainly produces cute shaped and colourful sweets. The shop is located in Kyoto’s shopping district “Ninenzaka”

8. Matcha&Hoji Tea Chocolate (抹茶&ほうじ茶チョコレート)
The long established green tea store Nakamura Tokichi was originally founded in 1854. As well as serving finest green tea, the store offers several matcha flavoured sweets such as cookies, cakes, jelly but their significant sweets must be Matcha& Hojicha chocolate.

9. Yatsuhashi (八つ橋)
Yatsuhashi is a famous regional products of Kyoto. It is made from glutinous rice flour, sugar and cinnamon. Both eaten with baked or raw stuffed with red bean paste. Yatsuhashi can be found every souvenir shops in Kyoto!
10. Deco Yatsuhashi (デコ八つ橋)
Since Kyoto has been selling Yatsuhashi for many decades, nowadays they have taken it to the next level! Deco Yatsuhashi is literally “decorated Yatsuhashi” which has cute and colourful shapes yet still taste yummy!
