Beppu mayor promises to built this hot spring amusement park if the video hits 1 Million views on YouTube.
This video was created by Beppu city. Beppu is a city of Oita prefecture (a.k.a. “the Onsen prefecture”) and very popular tourist destination with its Onsen (hot spring) facilities.
Their passion for Onsen has gone a bit more extreme than everyone thought. To attract more tourists and promote the city to the world, the city created a image video of their future plan to create an Onsen theme park called “Spamusement park (湯〜園地)” and the mayor promises on the video that he will actually built this park if the video hits over 1 million views during his tenure.
In this video, visitors enjoy themselves in an amusement park. Yet the park’s facilities are coverted with Onsen water, like a roller coaster or merry-go-round seats filled with water and visitors walk around the park only in their towel. I must say it looks totally odd and unrealistic.
Can this be real? Apparently, the video has already gained over 1 million viewers in 3 days.. We hope Beppu will manage to keep their promise and can’t wait to ride the roller coaster onsen!
