A huge number of tourists come to Japan for Japanese food as you know that Japanese traditional food “Wasyoku” has got registered in UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The TripAdvisor has released the top 30 restaurants ranking in 2015. They are based on the reviews by foreign visitors. So we are here to share the top 10 of 30 restaurants.

As a tip, make sure to reserve your seats in advance at these restaurants since they are very popular and busy, and it is required to make a booking in some of the restaurants. It is recommended to ask staff of your hotel to make the reservation or visit their websites and book by yourself (Many of them have one in English.)

1 OTSUKA (Kyoto)

The most popular and evaluated restaurant is Otsuka, located in Kyoto. This is a kind of a steak house, and high-grade beef is served in a reasonable way. The Murasawa beef is highly recommended!! It’s melting and juicy! Prefer making a pre-reservation from its website.

2 TAPAS MOLECULAR BAR (Tokyo)

In the TAPAS MOLECULAR BAR, on 38th floor of MANDARIN ORIENTAL TOKYO, talented chefs cook bite-sized dishes right before you by molecular gastronomy. Only 8 seats are provided each time (18:00 and 20:30), and you need to reserve in advance.

3 HAFUU (Kyoto)

This restaurant was open as a butcher shop, so it has handled high quality beef which is relatively unexpensive. Apart from the delicious beef, the atmospher of the hidden restaurant is good: modern but nostalgic Japanese-style.

4 HEIANRAKU (Takayama)

It is popular for budget and tasty foods of course. You can have Japanese-style Chinese dishes such as Gyoza (dumpling), fried rice, fried chicken and so on. They can be called Chinese-Japanese fusion food. The staff friendly communicate with you even though you can’t speak Japanese. Vegetarian can enjoy this restaurant, especially the potato is fresh and tasty.

7 GINZA KYUBEY (Tokyo)

There are 7 Kyubey stores in Tokyo and Osaka, and the main restaurant is located in Ginza. Quality fish are cut and formed into one-bited Sushi just in front of you by sushi chefs with their professional techniques. You should have fancy and authentic sushi now that you are in Japan! If you worry about your budget, you can reasonably have the same quality in lunch time.

9 Okonomiyaki KIJI Umeda Skybuilding (Osaka)

10 ICHIRAN Shibuya (Tokyo)

Ichiran was firstly established in Fukuoka prefecture and it has 59 chain stores now. Due to the birthplace, its main menu is Tonkotsu Ramen which is with pork bone broth. You will never regret as long as you have Ramen there.
