In Japanese, it’s standard to express a something as being in the past state by changing the word to its た (~ ta) form.

In casual Japanese, we usually express something as being in the past state by changing the verb or adjective conjugation to た (~ta) form.

For certain voiced sounds, you need to extend it with a small っ (i.e.った).
