Not as intimidating as you’d think!

Yes, yes, Japan has made me a traveler, and it is a particularly good country to do some solo traveling.

But still — for all of the activities like karaoke and eating yakiniku that you can do without fear of being judged in Japan, going to a concert seems like a whole other level entirely.

First, there’s just too many people.

Second, the concert I want to go to is a hard rock concert, which, again, is a whole other level of intimidating.

And third, it’s a hard rock band from a music franchise (featuring a mix of anime, manga, and games where the seiyuu or voice actors perform as their characters in live concerts), which means it’s probably going to be full of diehard otakus nicked head-to-toe in oshikatsu merch.

Now, I have merch, but you can’t exactly bring acrylic stands of your favorite characters or postcards of your favorite seiyuu to an all-standing concert.

Can’t exactly bring these to concert... Photo by author.

…Well, you can. But more on that later.
