Jinsei Tsuji Sings To Propel Us Towards a Better Tomorrow
His ‘Japanese Soul Man’ concert tour with his international band successfully concluded in London
Hitonari Tsuji (辻仁成, 1959–) is a famous Japanese writer, musician and film director who uses a different reading of the same name, Jinsei Tsuji, for his films and music activities. 20 years ago, he moved from Japan to France, and now divides his time between Paris and Normandy.
The first novel of his I read is 冷静と情熱のあいだ (Between Coolness and Passion) published in 1999. I remember I was really excited when two popular writers, Kaori Ekuni (江國香織) and Hitonari Tsuji, wrote the same story from two different points of view.
However, this time, I experienced ‘Jinsei Tsuji as a singer’ through a beautiful live concert. The message I received was that we all have our lives at the mercy of unwanted changes, including war and natural disasters, and that nevertheless, if we don’t dwell in despair, there is always something beyond.
Through Tsuji’s band, I also learnt how wonderful it is for everyone to be strong together, transcending national borders. I would be happy if you could feel such messages from this article on Tsuji’s music.
