Why Adventure Lovers Should Visit Kochi Prefecture
Kochi offers kayaking, hiking, craft beer, sake breweries, and more!
I had an opportunity to visit Shikoku Island, Hiroshima, and Okayama with sake enthusiasts for 10 days over the Golden Week holiday.
After sake making at Miyoshikiku sake brewery in Tokushima prefecture (details here), we probably had the best time in Kochi prefecture!
I am not saying Tokushima prefecture wasn’t great. It has Oboke, Koboke Gorge and Kazura bridge — they are surrounded by beautiful nature. You can also enjoy kayaking at Oboke. And last year, I enjoyed visiting Oirase Keiryu in Aomori and wrote about the moss walk here. That was one of the most memorable travels in Japan that I recommend everybody to visit. But this year, I want you to visit Kochi prefecture.
Look at the beautiful nature at Nikobuchi in the photo above! The place is called Niyodo-blue from the beautiful river Niyodo.
Staying at a lodge in Yasui Keikoku became one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had. It was very nice to hike around there.
The Blue Brew craft beer at Mukai Craft Brewing was a lovely stop to quench your thirst.
The view of Torigata limestone mountains was impressive. Be aware that you will have to walk at least 20 minutes.
There are many beautiful places in Japan but be sure to visit Kochi Prefecture which is famous for delicious bonito and yuzu! Food is very important while you are traveling. So be sure to check the local food in advance wherever you go!
