The Power of Surrendering
If you have found that an area of your life is not getting any better, it may be because you have not given the matter to the God of the entire universe.
When it comes to dealing with our own problems, we internally believe, especially if we are a type A personality, that we have the power to change everything through masculine energy. We believe that it is our job to “make it happen”. In reality though, we have absolutely no control over anything, except ourselves.
We have control over our thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Our divine power lies in how we handle challenges. It’s about the energy we allow to form within us.
So when you are facing a difficult situation, I know you may try to figure everything out. You do your research, call around, and start planning.
But did you consider releasing it over to God?
I’m not talking about just having church as usual going to the alter asking for prayer on how to “deal” with the situation. I mean you literally decided that God was in charge.
You chose to back away gracefully to let God do his work.
You decided to not pick it back up either.
We are so guilty of doing this too. It’s when we keep thinking and talking about the situation to ourselves, others, and God. That is not truly surrendering.
As a human being, you are naturally controlling. You want things to be a certain way, at a certain time, and if it doesn’t happen like that, you believe you have failed. Your failure puts you in a manic state to ensure that never happens again, so you give up on whatever it was that didn’t happen on your time table.
You quit too soon, and quite frankly, your controlling spirit didn’t help you either because you will have to pass this test of releasing control.
The test will appear in other areas of your life, if not the same one. The truth is that we all have things we want in our lives, but surrendering allows us to trust God to bring them to pass.
Not surrendering is what leads people to having a poor quality of life — unimaginable stress levels, health scares, low work performance, anxiety, depression, and unfulfilling relationships.
You should not live your life on the rocks because you don’t have what you want right now. Life is incredibly too short. And guess what? God isn’t going to speed up the process for you just because you are upset about not having your way. Instead, He is going to develop you through lessons to ensure that you grow up.
I’m sure you are now wondering exactly how you can surrender. It is far from easy, but when you finally do it, it feels like the world has lifted off of your shoulders.
Surrendering requires you to simply say, mean, and feel these words and state of being:
“God, I trust you with my entire life. You formed the universe and me out of nothing, so certainly my tiny desire is no match for your power. You can make it happen at any moment when you think it is best. You love me more than anything. You won’t withhold any good thing from me. At this very second, I release the manifestation of my desire into your hands. No longer am I going to try to make it happen. I give you complete control.”
This simple prayer allows God to put His angels in position to give you your heart’s desire in perfect timing. You become light and free in that you are no longer carrying this burden of making your life what you want it to be.
You will start to enjoy every minute of your life, since you are completely certain that whatever you want is going to happen. You are no longer in your own way with fear plaguing you. Fear only comes when we are afraid that we will not get what we hoped for. The prayer you sent up to God was heard, and I am sure His love was felt by you.
Through this love given from our action to surrender, we can be sure — sure of the outcome.
In A Course in Miracles, it states that “Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety.”
