9 Best Places to Learn AWS and Cloud Computing Online

Hello guys, if you want to learn AWS and looking for the best websites to platforms for AWS learning material then you have come to the right place. Earlier, I have shared the best AWS courses and guides to pass various AWS certifications and today, I Am going to share the best platforms to learn AWS online.

Amazon AWS is a bunch of services offered from Amazon on the cloud to help you empower your business and your web application by offering some services to develop and deploy your application such as EC2 service as well as storing the data in this databases such as S3 service and you can handle the whole infrastructure of your app in one dashboard which is the AWS CloudFormation service and many more just to name a few.

The Amazon web service or AWS for short will charge you for only what you have used in the storage and the power such as CPUs Ram bandwidth and more.

When you create an account you will choose an instance to empower the host and run your application which is just a little computer inside a giant computer that you get for a certain price depending on what you need.

After a small introduction about Amazon AWS, you might want now to take a look at more about this service or maybe consider using it for deploying your allocation if you already have one and this article will suggest the best online platforms and websites that will help you achieve that goal.

I have been careful to choose a website where you cannot only learn by reading or watching but also do some practice like AWS Free tier, which allows you to create a free AWS account then play around with different AWS services.

Similarly, some courses also provide online labs or interactive environments where you can learn and practice AWS online. Always remember the best way to learn anything is by doing and if you try different AWS services and do quizzes, exercises and assignments then you will learn AWS faster and better.

7 Best Places to learn Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2024

Here is a couple of popular websites and places where you can learn AWS online for FREE. These are also the best online platform from my experience to not just learn AWS and Cloud Computing but also other in-demand tech skills like Python, Java, Golang, etc.

1. Udemy

Udemy is the leading platform to learn anything from technology design marketing business and more is Udemy because this fantastic e-learning platform contains thousands of instructors teaching tens of thousands of courses in different categories.

Udemy is also the best website to learn new technology at an affordable price. It’s the only place where you can buy a $200 course for just $10 and that’s why I love Udemy. It has made the learning really affordable especially to all the people learning in low GDP countries where even a $10 course is not that cheap.

Udemy has more than 5000 courses to learn AWS but not all of them are great. This course called AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate 2024 is ranked the best-seller course that will help you to become a guru in this topic and teach you many of the AWS services with two exams at the end.

Udemy also has free courses, so if you need one, here is another free and interesting course is called Cloud Computing with Amazon Web Services (AWS) teaching you the basics of Cloud Computing with AWS services such as EC2 S3 and how to use them in your project or application. If you need more choices, you can also checkout this list of free AWS Courses on Udemy.

2. Coursera

If someone looking for a career in Amazon AWS or any topic and he wants massive courses offered from top universities and organizations in the world can enroll in one of Coursera specializations and enjoy learning in one of the leading e-learning platforms.

AWS Fundamentals is the best Coursera specialization about learning Amazon Web Service and it has everything you can imagine about how to use the different AWS services addressing the security risk and learn the best practicing to secure your application as well as how to migrate your workloads to this cloud and also you will build serverless applications and more concepts.

And here is a list of free AWS Courses you can audit on Coursera:

  1. AWS Cloud Technical Essentials
  2. AWS Fundamentals: Addressing Security Risk
  3. AWS Fundamentals: Migrating to the Cloud
  4. AWS Fundamentals: Building Serverless Applications

By the way, if you find Coursera courses useful, which they are because they are created by reputed companies and universities around the world, I suggest you join the Coursera Plus, a subscription plan from Coursera which gives you unlimited access to their most popular courses, specialization, professional certificate, and guided projects.

3. Pluralsight [Free Trial]

Another great e-learning platform I suggest seeing and exploring its courses is Pluralsight which will charge you for subscription-based, not courses like the previous one and its courses are short compared to Udemy courses but effective to learn a certain topic in a small time.

If you want a job or a career as a DevOps engineer I highly recommend the best course at Pluralsight to learn that and it called AWS Certified DevOps Engineer aimed for advanced people covering topics such as security governance and how to use IAM with EC2 instance web identity protecting your data in your S3 databases.

By the way, you would need a Pluralsight membership to join this course which costs around $29 per month or $299 per year (14% discount). I highly recommend this subscription to all programmers as it provides instant access to more than 7000+ online courses to learn any tech skill. Alternatively, you can also use their 10-day-free-pass to watch this course for FREE.

4. edX

Another e-learning platform provides professional courses offered from top universities and organizations in different topics from technology and cloud computing to business and marketing and many more but this article focused on Amazon AWS and you will see some of the courses to help you learn that.

Let’s say that you have a project or a web application and you’ve decided to deploy it on Amazon AWS but you don’t know how to do that.

Well, this is the best course in your case called AWS Developer: Deploying on AWS will show you how to achieve your goal as well as how to use some tools to monitor and manage your application.

5. Official AWS Portal

The official AWS portal also has a lot of useful material to learn AWS fundamentals, concepts, and services. While it’s hard to find useful material in the ocean like the AWS portal where you will find everything you need with respect to AWS certification and other paid training programs, there are still many useful AWS pages where you can learn key skills.

The best thing about the official AWS portal is that all the learning materials are up-to-date and they also offer both video and text format material which means you can either watch videos to learn concepts or you can read through. I like reading more than watching videos so I prefer to read tutorials and documentation to learn about AWS in depth.

They also have AWS white papers which are really useful if you are preparing for AWS certifications like Cloud Practitioner, AWS developer, and AWS Solution architect, I have learned a lot by just reading those white papers and I strongly suggest you to read them if you are keen to do well on your AWS certification.

6. ACloudGuru

This is another website where you can find a lot of high quality training courses and material to learn Cloud computing not just with AWS but also with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.

They also have a lot of free courses to learn essential tools and technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform etc.

Founded by Ryan Kroonenberg, one of my favorite author for learning AWS, it has all the course created by Ryan and his fellow teachers. Now ACloudGuru is a Pluralsight company and you need membership to watch all the courses but I think a couple of free ones are still free and you can watch without any membership.

7. AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification Course (CLF-C01) — Pass the Exam! [FREE] — YouTube

Not many people realize but YouTube also has great free resources to learn AWS but yes, they are difficult to find if you are not a regular YouTube user. One of the place I often go to learn on YouTube is a freeCodeCamp channel which has high quality online courses to learn almost anythign technical including AWS.

This AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification Course (CLF-C01) — Pass the Exam! is a exam focused course as name suggest it will prepare you ror AWS cloud practitioner exam but its really good to learn everything about AWS a programmer or System admin should know in start.

Developed by Andrew Brown of ExamPro, this 13 hour course is better than many paid AWS course on Udemy. It covers everything from storage to compute to networking to essential AWS services. You can also watch this course for free right here:

8. Educative

Lastly one of the best platforms for interactive training courses is Educaitve.io offering as well many courses in technology fields such as programming web development cloud computing and much more. The great thing about Educative is that they offer text-based, interactive course which allows you to practice on a browser.

If you are new to the field of cloud computing and you want to learn how to use Amazon AWS as a beginner consider seeing this training course called The Good Parts of AWS: Cutting Through the Clutter that will introduce you to the fundamentals of AWS such as deployment and more.

And, if you find the Educative platform and their interactive courses useful then consider getting an Educative Subscription which provides access to their200+ courses for just $14.9 per month. It’s very cost-effective and great for preparing for coding interviews.

9. Whizlabs

When it comes to learn AWS or Cloud computing, hands-on practice is must and that’s why you need a learning platform which provides sandbox and labs for practicing and Whizlabs does that.

I started AWS by watching videos on YouTube and Udemy but I never really learned until I start using AWS Free tier but there also I struggle. When I joined Coursera, I really liked their labs which made me learn AWS and other Cloud technology better but they were quite limited in functionality.

Whizlabs fill that gap by providing extensive set of Cloud Labs, online courses, and practice test to even prepare you for exams. If you really want to learn AWS in 2024 and also want to get certified for your AWS skills then I highly recommend you to get Whizlabs memberhsip which provide access to all of their labs and sandbox.

In fact, one subscription is enough to practice Azure, Google Cloud Platform, AWS and several other technology.

Here are a couple of great AWS courses and labs from Whizlabs:

  • Introducing Amazon Aurora
  • Adding SNS event for S3 Bucket
  • Using Cloud Watch for Resource Monitoring
  • Deploying Amazon RDS Multi-AZ and Read Replica, Simulate Failover
  • Implementing a Highly Available Web Application and Bastion Host in AWS

Speaking of AWS labs, Whizlabs library has 203 guided labs which are more than enough to maser AWS and you can get access to them either by taking Whizlabs Premium plan

That’s all about the best websites and platforms to learn AWS Online for FREE. Amazon web services are empowering many of the big-name companies such as Twitch LinkedIn, BBC, Baidu and you can consider it is a way to empower your business worldwide without worrying about the cost of the servers or the cloud in a short definition.

You can join any of these sites to learn AWS from scratch or you can also learn advanced AWS concepts and services and level up your skills.
