What is AWS Region?

An AWS Region is a physical cluster of data centres located in a specific geographic location. These are distributed around the world so that customers can choose a region closest to them in order to host their cloud infrastructure there.

The closer your region is to you, the better so that you can reduce network latency as much as possible for your end-users. You want to be near the data centres for fast service.

Depending upon the region, the service availability changes. US East (N. Virginia), US West (N. California), Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Frankfurt, Ireland are the regions that have more service availability.

Which Region I should select?

Here follows the points you should follow for selecting a region.

Choose the nearby region: Choose a region closest to your location and your customer’s location to optimize network latency.
