I Hired Freelance Programmers And Spent Over $2000
Here’s what happened.
In July 2010, I decided to create a mobile application for preparing for a mathematics exam. First, I monitored companies that were engaged in development, but due to budget constraints, I chose freelancers.
The first site that the search engine gave out was Freelancer.com. I wrote very detailed technical specifications, described everything down to the smallest detail so that no misunderstandings would arise during the work process, and uploaded the project to the site.
Freelancer #1
I received about 10–15 responses, from which I chose the most optimal questionnaire with good reviews and ratings. He promised to make an application for both platforms for $1500 in a month and a half. This option suited me perfectly because the application would be ready just in time for the beginning of the school year.
Everything started off very well. He did the app layout quickly, and I paid for the work done. As soon as it came to programming, problems started. As a result, he fiddled with the app only for Android until November and gave it to me unfinished, with many bugs.
Result: A clumsy app for Android, wasted time, and $1500
