I recently had a chat with Manuel Stagars for the Blockchain and Us Podcast.

We had a really interesting discussion that put crypto and blockchain technology in the context of its history and future. We talked about the verifiable web, how the state of the art blockchain tech is the computational equivalent of 1968 technology, and why people don’t use decentralized applications yet.

But most importantly, we talked about the future and the potential that crypto is unlocking: The importance of digital content creation for the coming augmented reality transformation, and how Bitcoin’s fundamental value proposition — the solving of the double spend problem — creates digital scarcity, and why that scarcity is the key to abundance for content creators everywhere.

Key takeaways:

  • We’re early and that’s OK
  • When you can’t trust your senses to tell what’s real from what isn’t, crypto-powered trust indicators will be vital
  • Digital scarcity is the key to abundance and opportunity
  • Augmented reality will dramatically expand opportunities for creators
