Meritocracy as a by-product of Jaxism

Jaxism is created on the basis of several concepts that we find critical for building the civilization of the future. Along with democracy, equality, and innovation, meritocracy comes as a smart way to lay the foundation of a more just and anti-corrupt society.

On the basis of merit

It doesn’t come as a surprise that such a notion as meritocracy was coined only in 1958, as we can clearly see that 60 years later it’s still hard to find a properly working meritocratic society. The rich keep growing richer and the poor keep getting poorer; everything seems the same since the beginning of time. However, there appear to be more and more people concerned about this issue.

Jaxism puts the matter of favoring the most skilled workers or Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” back into the picture. As democracy keeps spreading around the world, more people are finally given a fair chance of succeeding in life. Certainly, the proper framework still has to be worked out. But first, we need to focus on converting governments and other institutions of power into Jaxist societies that will be led by democratically elected representatives on the basis of extraordinary skills, talents, and achievements.

Citizens in a Jaxist society are encouraged to do what they are good at in order to benefit all members of the given society. And if their talent is not rewarded enough, there is a universal basic income to support their basic needs. Thus, a true meritocracy should not only provide the most talented people with the highest positions but also ensure everyone has the freedom to dedicate their time and resources to what is interesting for them rather than struggling to make ends meet at the expense of their happiness.

Nepotism is a thing of the past

Unfortunately, we observe a lot of people in positions of power who have inherited their jobs or bribed their ways to the top. Nepotism is another archaism that shouldn’t be present in the progressive societies of the twenty-first century that aim at discovering the secrets of galaxies rather than falling back into feudalism. We need to remember that there is no such thing as standing still; we are either moving forward or backward.

For a long time, our position in society was dictated by a class hierarchy, which gave zero chance to the lower classes to have high hopes. To make matters even worse, those who managed to achieve something in life can’t resist the temptation to favor their relatives or friends. Thus, it usually happens that people get appointed for jobs they have no proper training for. As a result, economic, social, and technical conditions make it nearly impossible to show growth and stimulate innovation.

Conclusion

Jaxism stands for equality of opportunity for everyone regardless of their wealth, status, family connections, etc. Under such circumstances, meritocracy becomes a natural part of the Jaxist establishment and development, provided every member of society agrees to play by the rules.
