This Is What I Want To Do

I recently found a Mike Bostock post on visualizing algorithms. It’s an amazing read and I’ve been trying to show it to as many people as possible. The post is really the essence of visualization: making complex ideas easy to understand. Mike also takes this a bit farther by making these visualizations absolutely beautiful — please please go check out the link.

I also found this other post by him (The Wealth and Health of Nations) recently, and it stayed with me for another reason. Back in High School I had seen Hans Rosling’s talk on international development and it had inspired me to apply to college as a potential International Relations major. It’s what I based most of my essays on. Of course, things didn’t work out exactly that way, but I’m glad I was able to circle back to something that was so important to me a long time ago.
