Investing Journey — Update #3

I’ve embarked on an investing journey to see which non-traditional (a couple of traditional) options will give me the best bang for my buck during a 1-yr time span. With the rise of crowd-funded platforms and the passing of the JOBS act legislation, there are new opportunities to us that were limited to only accredited investors previously.

I want in!

Without further ado, here are the updates:

Robinhood

  1. Purchased 825 shares of Square (SQ) with the portion of Twitter I sold previously.

Seedinvest

  1. Completed investments in two startups (I thought this already happened, but now it’s “officially completed”).

Lending Club

  1. More complications in the process of setting up my account.

Fundrise

  1. Recent investment of $6,000 completed.

Coinbase

  1. Purchased 2 Bitcoin ($3,225.22).
  2. Purchased 10 Ethereum ($961.02).
  3. Purchased 25 Litecoin ($681.85).

Robinhood — Stocks

Update:

After purchasing SQ stock, it reported earnings for Q1. Subsequently, it increased in value, so now I have an unrealized gain of approx. $1,000. Additionally, I have over 700 dollars in cash left over that I will transfer to my bank account.

Seedinvest — Startups

Previously, I mentioned that I had invested in these two companies. Not accustomed to the entire process, I told you that the investment was complete a little prematurely (sorry). BUT, now I can officially say both investments are finalized!

**If you’re interested in learning about the companies I invested in, take a look below:

DSTLD — Disrupting the $200BN fast fashion market with fairly priced,

direct-to-consumer premium essentials.

Keen Home — Making the core systems of the home smarter, starting with the

world’s first smart home air vent.

Lending Club — Peer to Peer Lending

Update:

If you need a refresher about my account status start here.

I received an email back from my Bank with some more bad news. Apparently, they cannot disclose any information about my closed savings account over the internet. I am required to visit a branch to get my old bank account info. At this point I can either visit a branch which I haven’t had time to do, or try a new peer to peer crowd-sourced platform. Hopefully I’ll have good news for you next update.

Fundrise — Private (potential IPO) REIT

Update:

Coinbase — Bitcoin

Update:

Great news in the world of electronic currencies. After purchasing Bitcoin, Ethereum, and some Litecoin — two of the three currencies have appreciated in value.

Original values:

(2 Bitcoin for $3,225.22 ) (10 Ethereum for $961.02) (25 Litecoin $681.85)

New Values:

I’ve embarked on an investing journey to see which non-traditional (a couple of traditional) options will give me the best bang for my buck during a 1-yr time span. With the rise of crowd-funded platforms and the passing of the JOBS act legislation, there are new opportunities to us that were limited to only accredited investors previously.
