I started using Things on Feb 1, 2019

Positives

  • redesign looks good (Things 2 looked very outdated)
  • UI is clean, minimal, refreshing, zen-like
  • great but subtle animations
  • inclusion of GTD stages/views in sidebar
  • inclusion of Areas!
  • inclusion of Logbook + Trash in sidebar
  • yellow alert top bar — letting me know that tasks have been added to the Today view since my last visit
  • deadlines separate from scheduled dates!
  • tags in the Inbox
  • Section headers inside Projects
  • iOS app — modern gestures

Negatives

  • iOS app is slow
  • a bit overpriced considering the lack of features
  • UI too limited (can’t rearrange or hide views in the sidebar)
  • UI elements are too smell (icons, text, pop-up windows, subtasks)
  • new tasks add to the top of the inbox
  • pie progress bar chart icons were smart but distracting
  • Calendar integration is practically pointless
  • lack of filters, priorities, stats
  • can’t add multiple separate comments/notes
  • can modify completion date
  • lack of customization settings

My Personal Struggle

  • lack of activity log
  • lack of collaboration / waiting stage
  • lack of true file attachments
  • can’t add times to tasks
  • sloppy & lackluster GTD stages (will discuss in a future video)
