Some levers have been adjusted and valves have been opened in the Jelly factory, making the Airdrop Recipe permissionless. Anyone can now create their own Airdrop using the Jelly Recipe and the documentation on Gitbooks http://docs.jelly.io/

But this is only the start, we also see the Airdrop Infrastructure as a useful building block in the decentralised web3 ecosystem. Making the Airdrop Recipe permissionless means it is now available for others devs to integrate with.

Permissionless Airdrop Infrastructure

The power of permissionless is not to be underestimated. We have seen the rise of AMMs and Defi protocols where users and projects can self list. With this comes an exponential growth of integrations between permissionless protocols. Developers can ideate and innovate because the open and immutable nature of permissionless protocols gives them all the information they need to start building. With each new product built on top of permissionless protocols, their success is also the success of the underlying protocol.

SushiSwap/Uniswap sparked an explosion of products building on top of their liquidity pools. These products include liquidity locking (Unicrypt), portfolio analytics (APY Vision / Zerion), yield strategies (Yearn), liquidity zaps (Zapper) and many other integrations (MISO Launcher etc). The permissionless nature of these protocols unlocks all these additional features, providing useful building blocks for other projects to work with.

We believe Airdrops are key crypto infrastructure, an increasingly common way for projects to distribute rewards at scale. Distribution is a key building block for projects, with a growing space for new integrations around Airdrops:

  • Sharing and publishing of Whitelists, where projects can leverage each other’s communities and partner through Airdrops
  • To improve the quality of Whitelists, where behavioural analytics and scoring methods are used to make rewards work harder
  • Enabling voting for accounts on unclaimed Airdrops
  • The potential for aggregated Airdrop marketplaces and notifications tools.

With the Jelly Airdrop infrastructure in place, we look forward to seeing how it will get built upon and welcome teams to reach out about collabs as this rewards ecosystem grows.

How to create an Airdrop

Today we launched the Gitbooks documentation so you can create your own Airdrop using our Jelly Recipe without needing to reach out to us at all.

Your own Airdrop

Jelly produces the UI and smart contracts out-of-the-box. Your Airdrop will look like this example for the WOBBL token.

Get Started

To get started creating your own Airdrop, you’ll need ERC-20 tokens and a list of accounts to distribute your Airdrop to. Then there are three main steps:
- Prepare your Whitelist
- Create your Airdrop
- Update your Airdrop Claim UI

See our documentation here on Gitbooks http://docs.jelly.io/ and feel free to reach out to us on Discord or Twitter if you need support.

Friendly Competition

To celebrate our Airdrop Recipe being permissionless, we are running a competition for the Finest Airdrop created using Jelly.

Making the finest Airdrop

You’ll have until 29th July 2022 to submit your Airdrop to the competition. See instructions and reach out for support in the #finestairdrop channel on our Discord.

You can create your Airdrop on Rinkeby or Mumbai Testnet and share it with the Jelly Community. Make sure to submit your Airdrop link in the #finestairdrop-comp for judging.

Judging Criteria

The Finest Airdrop will be judged by Dr Jiggle and Professor Wobble. The winner will be chosen based on:

  • how creative the Airdrop is
  • how well it engaged users
  • and how well the Airdrop was used as a tool for the project. For example, if it is effective at quickly creating a big community or is good at creating a solid community for the project, etc.

Prize: There will be one Finest Airdrop Winner, no second place. For the winning Airdrop we will provide the funds to cover network fees to launch your token Airdrop live. The winner can launch on Ethereum mainnet (or whichever EVM compatible network the winner chooses). We will provide the dev support for your token and Airdrop, plus a heap of Jelly love for go live.

Decentralising the Jelly Ecosystem

To go hand in hand with our first Recipe being permissionless, the Jelly protocol governance and $JELLY utility will be getting an upgrade soon.

Protocol Fees

When someone creates an Airdrop, Jelly puts 3% of the Airdrop rewards into the JellyDAO Pool. By default, those project tokens are vested for 6 months.

The JellyDAO

veJELLY and JellyDAO are being worked on next, adding governance to both the protocol and the JellyDAO pool.

As fees accumulate, there will be a growing need to make decisions within the DAO. JELLY holders can choose to lock their JELLY in return for veJELLY (vote escrowed $JELLY) to be part of the decision making and fee distribution.
