The wallets we support

One of the latest updates on our dApp is the diversified list of wallets that you can use in order to connect to Jelly — the first step before initiating a swap. We’ve taken into consideration both security and simplicity so that you can choose whatever option works best for you.

We are currently supporting three different blockchains — Bitcoin, Ethereum and Aeternity. Let’s see how to connect to each one of them.

Connect to Bitcoin network

Here you have two options — Ledger or Brainwallet.

Ledger is a hardware wallet. It is considered to be one of the most secure ways to store your assets due to the fact that hardware wallets work as offline devices. It means that they store your cryptocurrency offline so that it can’t be hacked. Here is a short video about Ledger and how to use it.

  1. Connect Ledger to your computer and select the Bitcoin application.

2. Then click on the Ledger icon at the bottom of the “Swap” screen.

3. Once it discovers your Ledger, all you have to do is double-click on it and you are connected.

Brainwallet is another super-easy way to connect to Bitcoin. Here you are not required to possess any hardware devices. All you need is a username and a password just like any other registration you make. Or a 12-word phrase (the so-called BIP39). Be careful to remember your username and password (or phrase)because no one is able to recover them for you. If you forget or lose them, your assets will also be lost. Make your password strong — you’ve heard that a thousand times, but really — follow this rule or use a password generator.

  1. Click on the Brainwallet icon.

2. Choose which option you would like to use — account or phrase generation

3. Enter the information and click connect. A wallet has been created in your browser. You are now connected and a swap can be executed. Later on, you can transfer the assets from your Brainwallet to any other address you want.

Connect to Ethereum

Here you have three options — MetaMask, Fortmatic and Torus.

MetaMask is the most popular web browser extension for connecting to Ethereum. It is widely used among crypto users, so we believe there is no need for an introduction.

  1. You need to have MetaMask extension installed in your browser.

2. Enter your password to log in and then confirm in order to connect

You are all done! Your Ethereum wallet is now connected.

Fortmatic does quite the opposite. It eliminates the need for browser extensions and seed phrases. Instead, you connect through a phone number or email. Fortmatic is mostly preferred by non-technical users as an easy way to connect without a specific application or extension. It can be accessed via almost any web browser on any device, including mobile. According to Fortmatic, over 65% of their interactions come via mobile devices.

  1. Choose the Fortmatic icon at the bottom of the “Swap” screen:

And you are done! A wallet has been created and you are now connected to Ethereum. You can start swapping.

Torus makes things even simpler. You bypass all the browser extensions, hard wallets, seed phrases and registrations. You simply choose from a list of social media login options such as Gmail, Facebook, Twitch, Discord, Reddit

Torus
  1. Click on the Torus icon among the Ethereum wallet options. In the pop-up that appears simply choose the social media account you want to use.

Connect to Aeternity

Superhero is the wallet that you need to use in order to connect to Aeternity. It works just like MetaMask. You should first install the browser extension. Then click on the icon at the bottom of “Swap” page.

Choose Accept on the pop-up that appears.
