Step-By-Step Guide

If you are reading this article, you probably consider using Jelly. You want to swap coins from different blockchains without a third party? Good choice — Jelly will do all the work for you. Here we give a very simple step-by-step guide on how to use the dApp in order to swap. Have a look at this video for a better understanding.

  1. Open the dApp and have a look at the first tab called “Swap”.

2. Choose the coins you want to swap (e.g. ETH and BTC) and enter the amount you want to exchange (e.g. 0,1 ETH).

enter the amount

Jelly will automatically calculate the amount you are supposed to receive (BTC coins).

Then comes the Receiver Address field which will be filled automatically once you connect the wallets.

3. Connect the wallets

In order to exchange ETH for BTC you need to connect the respective wallets. For Ethereum we support Metamas, Fortmatic and Torus. For Bitcoin we support Ledger and Brainwallet (which consists only of a username and password).

4. Now the Receiver Address should appear automatically

5. Begin Swap

You now have filled in all the data needed to start the Swap.

Click on “Swap”.

Let’s swap!

You will see a pop-up confirming the swap. Click Confirm to continue.

6. Confirm the transaction

Once you hit the “Begin Swap” button, a pop-up will appear from your Ether Wallet (e.g. MetaMask) to confirm the amount you want to send.

7. Dashboard

You are now transferred to the second tab “Dashboard”. Here you can see a history of all your previous swaps with their status.

Pending — your Ethereum transaction is waiting to be confirmed on the blockchain
In Progress
— the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain and your swap is being processed by the liquidity provider.
Click to Withdraw — you can now withdraw.
Completed —you have successfully withdrawn and the assets are already in your wallet.
Click to Refund — the swap has expired (read more here)
Failed — you didn’t do a withdraw on time and the liquidity provider swap has expired, therefore you cannot withdraw.
Refunded — you successfully did a refund of an expired swap.

8. Withdraw

When the transaction is completed, a pop-up appears where you can withdraw the received coins (e.g. BTC).

Please have in mind that you have 90 minutes to withdraw. Otherwise, the swap will fail and your funds will be locked for 24 hours. Don’t worry — they are not lost! In 24-hour time, you will be able to withdraw them.
