Today is voting day in California, so please remember to vote. You have until 8pm.

So almost everyone is not voting. So if even just 1 out of 3 of the people reading this who aren’t planning to vote went and voted, the voter turnout rate would double!

In the 2012 Presidential election, the voter turnout was 54.9%. In this round’s primaries, the voter turnout has been 25%. So almost everyone is not voting. So if even just 1 out of 3 of the people reading this who aren’t planning to vote went and voted, the voter turnout rate would double! You can see at my polling place there were only 130 cards processed at 9:30am, or just 65 voters. I had a sign in sheet with 14 people on it and I was the only one there. The largest primary demographic is the people not voting. So maybe reconsider and vote?

A few quick helpful voting things:

- You can find your polling place herehttp://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/polling-place/…
- Polls are open until 8pm so you still have time to change your mind and vote, and even go after work
- It takes only about 10 minutes
- You get a FREE sticker — see, that is tax dollars at work.
- Make sure they give you the right ballot
- Write down what/who you plan to vote for in advance

My voting place was the Hua Zang Si Buddhist temple. When you go you even get to use a “Ballot Secrecy Folder.”

Here’s a few scenes from my polling place. I get there and fill out a ballot. I realize it is missing a section so go back and need to ask for another ballot. They didn’t realize they had mixed up the ballots. In the meantime there is a guy there who moved and reregistered at his new address, yet he is nowhere in the system and is being told he may not be able to get his vote to count. So, yup, that is how voting is working today. But it is still better to vote than not vote.

If you are looking for guide to what is on the ballot you can find my voter guide here:
