Does the band make a sound?

If a band plays in a bar and no one is around, do they make a sound?

Since the band themselves exist and they experience the sound, the technical answer is yes.

But what if no one else is paying attention?

Does it matter?

Are you making a difference playing to an empty auditorium? Are you making a difference practicing a speech in the mirror? Are you making a difference thinking long and hard on a big problem?

In an infinite sea of ideas, the ripple from a pebble causes little waves.

Practice plants the seed for causing a ruckus in the future. It’s an investment. And investments are risky. People like to measure their ROI.

You might not be making a sound now, but you will.

And possibly sooner than you think.

If no one is listening, what does it matter?

It matters to you.

And that’s all that should matter.
