It’s recently been reported that some bacteria are now resistant to our most powerful antibiotics. We knew this day was coming, yet did very little to curb the widespread overuse of these amazing drugs.

While some cartoonists were busy sketching realistic portraits and overdrawing landscapes, Charles Schulz drew a funny looking kid with a round head. He believed in drawing “only what’s necessary.”

When charting a course, we connect the dots to our destination before we know where the monsters dwell. That works in a predictable economy. When the waters are rough, we must bake adaptability into our DNA.

When something works, use it — but provide yourself enough freedom to explore alternative solutions as the world evolves to fight against you. Save the factory work for the factories.

Stop overusing. Stop overdrawing. Make a loose outline and let it breathe.
