A Featured Deck Review

An ongoing series exploring Tarot, Angel and Oracle cards.

My new favorite tarot deck is the Wildwood Tarot by Mark Ryan & John Matthews and illustrated by Will Worthington. The deck is filled with beautiful nature-inspired imagery. From the Green Man to the Blasted Oak to The Sun, the images are a delight to the eyes and easy to connect to on an intuitive level.

There is so much depth to all the illustrations and the information each card possesses. The Wildwood Tarot comes accompanied with a book that you will need in order to use it. For those of you familiar with the Rider-Waite definitions, this deck is definitely a bit different. Although you will see some similar meanings, these cards have a shamanic interpretation to them. The cards carry with them seasonal meanings, as well as information about Celtic mythology and ancient festivals.

This isn’t a beginner deck. You do need to have working knowledge of the Tarot before you delve into the Wildwood Tarot. However, it’s worth the work. This deck gives amazingly accurate readings and can be used as an oracle or for meditation purposes. It’s been a delightful experience working with this deck and I cannot wait to go even deeper with it in the future months. If you are looking to diversify your Tarot collection, this is the deck for you!

Would you like to see a reading with the Wildwood Tarot? Intuitive Tarot sessions and all of my email readings are available with this deck. For more in-depth information from the authors themselves or to purchase, visit them on the Wildwood Tarot website.
