Overview:
In this episode Dan and I begin by talking about the nature of Catechisms in general.
Around minute 15, Dan gives an introduction to Vatican Council II and how it was started by Pope John XXIII who convened the council in an effort to “open up the windows of the Catholic Church and let the Holy Spirit in.”
The rest of the episode is breaking down how the Catechism is organized. It is broken up into 4 parts:
- Profession of Faith
- Sacramental life
- Christian Morality and Ethics
- Prayer
The first 2 parts, as George Weigel says, is about God action in seeking us out and the last 2 parts are about our response to God.
