The Sound of Adam and Eve’s Fall
I was walking out of a coffee shop the other day when I heard a glass shatter.
I thought to myself, “that’s probably what the sound of the fall of mankind was like.”
It wasn’t a simple crunch of an apple.
It was the shattering of glass — and we were the glass.
The glass of which we are made is the image of God. That image of God wasn’t obliterated into nothingness.
We didn’t become totally depraved but irreparably depraved.
We weren’t then evil itself, but slaves to evil.
Since we ourselves were shattered, we could not put ourselves back together again.
Only the One who fashioned us in the first place could put us back together again.
For us to ever be whole again, like we were created to be, God had to do something to restore us. And He did.
