Ventura Barba, Executive Director and partner of Advanced Music.

We end a fantastic month of October with a JET8 Social interview with Executive Director and partner of Advanced Music, Ventura Barba. Advanced Music is the organizing company of the Sónar festival and the Sónar+D congress, considered one of the most important music and technology projects in the world.

In 2002 Barba was the General Counsel of Yahoo! Spain before being promoted to Director of Yahoo! International Music Department of Legal and Business Affairs. After that, he went on to be the General Manager of Yahoo! Music Europe and Canada before going on to co-find Tenzing Media, a business developing consulting firm specializing in the field of creative industries.

In the interview, Barbo explains the importance of creators in the innovation process and how they are shaping the future of technology. In his opinion, creators can imagine without boundaries; therefore, they must be part of the innovation phase.

According to Barbos, the challenges communities are currently facing with regards to technology is the revolution of the internet, especially with regards to privacy and how we want our information to be used and monitored.

In his personal opinion, people should benefit from the use of technology. He sees JET8’s technology as bringing freedom to people by allowing them to create and share the content that they want to and still benefit from it.
