DEN Culture covers the future, of music and design

DEN Culture welcomed two radical creative forces from the world of graphic design, and the future of music.

Introducing Inocuo, alter ego of Javier Gutiérrez, founder of the Inocuo The Sign studio. In his interview, Javier discusses creating his signature style, and the impact of social media technology on the world of advertising.

Javier’s work is infused with his love of graffiti, radical graphic design, and the use of multiple mediums. Whilst his work is rooted in traditional craftsmanship, Javier is ever the innovator, keen to embrace new technologies to break new ground in the world of creativity and design.

From print to cross-media, motion graphics, web or 3D animation, his team continually experiments with the creative processes, delivering standout work to companies such as Nike, Volskwagen, Audi, Tv3, Adidas, as well as smaller projects.

“Inocuo The Sign Team is continuously seeking new ways of communicating, new formats, using technology as an indispensable tool, but without forgetting the artisanal processes that led us where we are now, and that continue to be an essential part of this project’s DNA.” — Javier Gutiérrez

A swift segue from the visual to the aural takes us into the future of music, with Niall Doorley, Founder and Director of the Future Music Forum.

In 2008, the emergence of disruptive technologies challenged the music industry with a change-or-die moment. Niall Doorley saw an opportunity for dialogue between conventional labels, and the new platforms. The Future of Music Forum emerged, and is now an annual international music conference based in Barcelona.

The Forum gathers over 300 selected groups of music futurists, label owners, managers, music and mobile technology entrepreneurs, and digital music consumption analysts to discuss music sharing and distribution in the digital age.

IESE Business School on the business of blockchain

IESE Business School alumni gathered this week to hear forward-facing founders discuss the future of business on the blockchain.

JET8 Foundation Founder & Director, Joshua Thomson, joined the Demystifying Blockchain panel, comprised of Anjaney Borwankar, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer of Navozyme, Gaurang Torvekar, Co-Founder & CEO of Indorse, and Marcelo Garcia Casil, Founder & CEO of Maecenas Fine Art.

From L-R: Anjaney Borwankar, Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer of Navozyme, Camille Chow, MBA Admissions Director of IESE Business School, Marcelo Garcia Casil, Founder & CEO of Maecenas Fine Art, Gaurang Torvekar, Co-Founder & CEO of Indorse, and Joshua Thomson, JET8 Foundation Founder & Board Director

The panels’ mission was to delve into the complexities of blockchain technology in an accessible way, from their own first-hand business experience. Showcasing real-use cases from the maritime, recruitment, FMCG, art and social media industries, the panel looked to transformative applications of blockchain, beyond Bitcoin.

Joshua Thomson, JET8 Foundation Founder & Director, discussed his aspirations for the event:

“People are somewhat blinded by the financial services element of blockchain usage, but that’s really only one aspect of the technology. Blockchain, when applied to a whole range of sectors, is already changing the way we do business. Not only in how data is recorded and verified, but in how we communicate. This is the most exciting thing to consider! Decentralised systems, like blockchain, mean that we can rewrite the way we connect with each other globally. I hope the audience came away from the event understanding that the impact of blockchain goes beyond business, into society.”

MarTechSeries interviews JET8 Foundation Chairman

In an in-depth interview with leading online marketing technology publication MarTechSeries, JET8 Foundation Chairman Victor Zabrockis covers JET8’s origins, decentralised engagement networks, and the future of community on the blockchain.

MarTechSeries joins a list of publications, including Tech in Asia, and AsiaOne, covering JET8’s innovation of decentralised social media technology. In an excerpt from the interview, Victor looks to the potential of decentralised engagement networks in social media marketing:

“Social media has been dominated by monolithic companies that control and own all the activity taking place on their platforms. Users provide value to the platforms in the form of content, but they are bombarded with unwanted advertising, and experience breaches in data privacy. These platforms monetize on users’ personal data, creative output, and social influence, while users earn nothing. Social Media Marketing has been functioning within this disempowering dynamic.

Decentralized engagement networks allow for a more equal distribution of value. Social media will continue to be based on relationships, but they can now travel even further, outside of the boundaries defined by individual platforms. Users won’t be held captive to advertising, they’ll be able to choose when and how they interact with brands. This will encourage more authentic relationships with fans and followers, which is a good thing because it means that brands aren’t wasting their money — they’re interacting with an audience they’re already assured want to hear from and engage with.”
