Wings for Life partners with JET8 to raise awareness for spinal cord injury

This week, Wings for Life signed a partnership with the JET8 Foundation, and announced the imminent launch of their JET8-powered app — giving supporters and runners a new and dynamic way to make a difference.

Built with the purpose of drawing the world’s attention to finding a cure for spinal cord injury through the power of social influence, the app will anyone, anywhere in the world to share the Wings for Life campaign message with branded stickers and frames. Furthermore, every in-app like, comment, and share will reward users with JETS, JET8’s in-app social currency, which users can use to redeem products or make a monetary donation towards spinal cord research projects and clinical trials.

Wings for Life was founded by two-time motocross world champion Heinz Kinigadner and Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz in 2004 with the single mission to find the cure for spinal cord injury. Since its foundation, Wings for Life has funded no fewer than 191 research projects.

In order to be able to continue funding projects, the foundation relies heavily on donations from private individuals and companies. The Wings for Life World Run, for example, is one of the foundation’s largest events and has raised millions of Euros over the last few years via participation fees, donations, and sponsors. 100% of the funds raised are used for research projects; all administrative costs are shouldered by Red Bull.

Former athletics world record holder and Wings for Life World Run Global Sports Director, Colin Jackson explains:

“Whether it’s sharing training results or sharing your participation in a training run or race event, our JET8-powered app allows you to share moments and experiences whilst making a difference.”

Wings for Life CEO Anita Gerhardter said:

“ We’re excited to have the JET8 app as an additional tool in support of our mission to find a cure for spinal cord injury. With JET8 technology, everybody can become an influencer, tremendously simplifying the ability of our supporters to engage with the Wings for Life community. The partnership with JET8 Foundation is a no-brainer and will improve the opportunities for us to engage with our supporters. By just taking a selfie and showing support, our app empowers users around the globe to make an impact.”

“Our JET8-powered app allows our supporters, fans, and advocates to engage with our foundation directly — making this the perfect app for us as we created the Wings for Life World Run to raise as much money and awareness for spinal cord injury as possible so that ultimately, we can find a cure.” — Wings for Life World Run Global Sports Director, Colin Jackson
