JET8 Weekly Update — September 6, 2018

This week, the JET8 Foundation announces Singapore’s National Gallery as the official venue for this year’s DEN Summit; the next instalment for DEN Culture featuring BluRum13; and the launch of ICECAM - an app dedicated to supporting the under-represented youth of South Africa.
Venue announced for DEN Summit 2018
The Supreme Court Terrace at Singapore’s prestigious National Gallery will be the setting for the JET8 Foundation’s first DEN Summit this October 18th.
National Gallery Singapore is a visual arts institution which oversees the largest public collection of modern art in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Situated in the heart of the Civic District, the Gallery is housed in two national monuments — City Hall and former Supreme Court — that have been beautifully restored and transformed into this exciting venue.
Reflecting Singapore’s unique heritage and geographical location, the Gallery features Singapore and Southeast Asian art from Singapore’s National Collection in its long-term and special exhibitions. The Gallery also works with international museums to jointly present Southeast Asian art in the global context, positioning Singapore as a regional and international hub for the visual arts.

The Gallery’s most expansive space, the Supreme Court Terrace located at Level 4 Mezzanine, is also one of its most stunning — and will be the backdrop for this year’s DEN Summit. Built around the former Supreme Court’s Rotunda dome, old and new architecture merge perfectly.

With the theme “Networks are Communities” the DEN Summit offers industry leaders and enthusiasts alike the chance to participate in an event created for the innovation and support of decentralized engagement networks.

DEN Culture attracts international talent
Next week, international hip hop and jazz artist James Sobers, a.k.a. BluRum13 takes to the stage at the DEN hall for the latest instalment of DEN Culture. After more than 20 years and 4 solo albums, BluRum13 brings his “lyricism via the voice of molasses” to Barcelona, backed by his international band, The Ultraverse.
With Spain’s Grammy-nominated Ray Colom on trumpet and keys, Bond, Poland’s master of bass groove, and France’s beat prodigy R33, The Ultraverse easily transitions between electronic grooves to bass-heavy classics and new soul, taking you on ride through the mind of an emcee that defies definition.

DEN Culture is held at the DEN hall in Barcelona as a bi-monthly opportunity for new communities to showcase their talent, and launch their new community apps.
These intimate events are filmed by a professional crew, and fans can access the videos by simply downloading the app (designed for the artist by the JET8 Foundation) and taking a selfie. Frames and stickers are available in the app that speak to the artist’s own philosophy, creating a unique space for fans to interact with the artist.
Overcoming obstacles with the ICECAM app
The JET8 Foundation and the Mzansi Digital Republic Trust came together with a combined desire to use social media technology to support disadvantaged communities all over South Africa.
Together, they launched the ICECAM app - a social media app aimed at giving communities across South Africa access to new earning opportunities.
Users of the app will share branded selfies and videos, earning JET8’s social currency JETS along the way. They can then redeem products they’ve earned online or in-store at more than 2,500 retail stores across South Africa, including Shoprite and Checkers.
Combined with the promotion of an inter-school and community talent competition called Diamonds in the Rough, the ICECAM app will build a strong mobile community, and assist users to overcome obstacles of social inequality, poverty, and crime.
