Meet Jetty

Jetty is the financial services platform on a mission to make renting a home more affordable and flexible. Jetty’s integrated suite of products helps renters decrease the financial burden of moving into a new home, and offers greater flexibility with how and when to pay rent. For property managers, Jetty can help increase lease conversions, improve resident retention, reduce bad debt, and boost net operating income.

We accomplish this with three products:

• Jetty Deposit replaces a traditional cash deposit with a type of insurance product called a surety bond. Instead of paying a cash security deposit, Jetty Deposit gives the renter the option to pay a non-refundable premium for a fraction of the deposit amount, which serves as a Jetty-backed guarantee to the rental property that the property can be protected in the event that the renter fails to pay for damage or skipped rent.
• Jetty Protect is a low-cost renters insurance product. With Jetty Protect, the renter can set the level of protection they require on a property and resident basis.
• Jetty Rent lets renters split their monthly rent payments into installments for a monthly fee. Jetty pays the property for the total monthly rent on the first of every month on behalf of the resident, and the resident pays Jetty back on a flexible schedule throughout the month.

Why we started this blog

At Jetty, we’ve learned a lot by reading other people’s stories. A lot of those authors have shared lessons learned through their successes and missteps, and their stories have helped our team be critical of our own decisions, learn from them, and adapt to the changing world around us. With this in mind, we believe it’s only fair to share our learning as well.

But what if no one outside of Jetty ever reads an article? That’s okay! The same way people maintain a personal diary, the articles we share will support our efforts to reflect on how we are working together and to identify areas where we can be better. We believe this feedback loop is an important step in our continued improvement as a team.

We also want to give people who might be entertaining the idea of joining our Product & Engineering team a way to get to know us better. Joining a new team is a big decision, and you can only learn so much through the interview process. We’re hoping this will provide another opportunity for someone to get some insight into how we think and work together.
