The pandemic continues to affect millions of people across the world, but this doesn’t mean bunkering down in our homes is the best way of escaping Covid-19. Shutting away the world and connecting with nature for a few hours can quickly be done on the perfect hiking trail.

That being said, here are three distinct hiking trails, varying in difficulty and with mesmerizing scenery.

Anthony’s Nose

With beautiful views of rolling mountains and the Bear Mountain Bridge, Anthony’s Nose is a worthwhile endeavor. Located north of Peekskill, NY, the top’s journey requires moderate effort and is suitable for beginners. After walking for thirty minutes on a section of the Appalachian Trail, you’ll be rewarded with a captivating panorama of the Hudson River. If you find yourself still with energy, you can walk across the Bear Mountain Bridge, lending to more views of the surrounding landscape.

Storm King Mountain

Storm King Mountain from the start, pleases travelers with its scenic hills. Being the longest trail on this list, Storm King Mountain, takes approximately an hour and a half to finish. Before beginning, there will be various trails to choose from, each one providing a uniquely serene experience. Whichever path you take, the difficulty will change throughout the journey. One moment you may be feeling out of breath while the next you may be calm enough to enjoy the undisturbed environment. Found south of Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY, Storm King Mountain offers picturesque views of the Catskills and Hudson Valley.

Breakneck Ridge

Undoubtedly the hardest trail on this list, Breakneck Ridge, welcomes those looking for a challenge. If you consider yourself a beginner, Breakneck Ridge can be daunting. But trust me when I say the hike is worth it. Breakneck Ridge attracts thousands of hikers, travelers, and individuals just looking to rock climb without actually rock climbing. By this, I mean, you’ll find yourself at one point on the trail climbing over boulders of rocks and feeling like a professional rock climber ready to take on the world. This trail may sound intimidating, but I’ve witnessed kids, elders, and even dogs make it to the top. Hiking at a slow pace is essential for those who are inexperienced. A challenge? You bet. Worth it? Most definitely.
