Traveling across seas may seem impossible currently, with only a few countries opening their doors to foreigners, but rather than reminiscing of past adventures, why not plan for future expeditions?

Here you’ll find extraordinary places around the world to kayak. Rivers, oceans, and lakes — this neatly crafted list has them all!

Santa Elena Canyon, USA

Santa Elena Canyon, Texas, USA

Santa Elena Canyon, well-known for its colossal cliffs and abundant hiking paths, possesses a 13-mile long river shadowed by fascinating rock formations that make the Grand Canyon jealous. Situated in Big Bend National Park, the Rio Grande river will carry travelers through multiple bends and provide mesmerizing views of 1,500 ft high walls. You’ll need expertise with a paddle to maneuver through these waters, considering that you’ll come across formidable rapids classified as Class IV — in other words, an exhilarating experience.

Dordogne, France

Riverside castles, delicious cuisine, and relaxing scenery all live around the beautiful Dordogne river. A perfect place for beginner kayakers, this lazy river will move you past the small, quaint towns of Dordogne, many of them built during the medieval period. Apart from these towns, you’ll spot many castles positioned on top of towering hills, which you can step in and explore at your leisure. Stop at any village along the valley, and you’ll be sure to enjoy the scenic views or wine that France has to offer.

Moraine Lake, Canada

Moraine Lake, Banff, Canada

In Canada, one can find the unsurpassable beauty of Moraine Lake. Surrounded by glacier embedded mountains and tall pine trees, this blue lake will evoke awe and serenity. The silt from the glaciers gives the lake a vibrant tint of blue, creating a stunning spectacle to be captured on camera. The calm waters of Moraine Lake make it a suitable destination for kayakers of all levels. An impressive landscape with numerous hiking paths makes this a must-see destination

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

Cliffs of Moher

Personally, a favorite place of mine, the Cliffs of Moher is a remarkable location to visit. Anyone looking for a strenuous workout will find it here with never-ending cliffs that stand at 708 ft and stretch over 4 miles, even expert hikers will find themselves tired. Tourists can choose to view the Atlantic from up above, but those who opt to kayak the unforgiving waves found at the bottom will enjoy a more intimate experience with nature. Paddle alone or with a friend, the journey will leave you with indelible memories. If luck is on your side, you’ll spot the majestic puffin bird, famously known to nest on these cliffs during the breeding season.
