My Favorite Local Restaurants in Boston, MA

When asked about the diversity of local dining in the northeastern corridor, many may be drawn to the vast amount of choices and specialties found in New York City. While true, I have found that no place quite encapsulates the quintessential New England cuisine like Boston, Massachusetts does. While “New England” includes many of the country’s biggest cities along the east coast, the food unique to the region is best shown in Boston. Read along to discover a couple of restaurants that have that New England feel to them and show off the unique culture of the city. When you’re finished, download the Jetzy App so you can see for yourself the local places that other travelers to Boston have visited! Then, tag your favorite meals and drinks, and (COVID-19 permitting!) link up with other local food hunters!

Legal Sea Foods

Few eateries have the Boston flavor like Legal Sea Foods Restaurant, established in Cambridge as a fish market in 1950. In fact, its popularity has brought it to 33 locations across five states as well as shipping fresh seafood anywhere in the contiguous United States. But don’t let these numbers fool you, Legal Sea Foods is no boring chain. Their seafood continues to be commended highly by customers and critics alike, earning it several “Best Of” awards not just in Boston but around the New England area! It also earned three “Best Clam Chowder” awards in the past 10 years by Boston Magazine, a dish that, if you know the area, is not taken lightly. Legal is a staple of the northeast, and a must-stop for that delicious, fresh seafood.

Café Sushi

While I certainly have not been to the vast amount of sushi easteries in the Boston area, Café Sushi is one of the few that I have tried and now love! Located in a cozy loft adorned with neon in the heart of Cambridge near Harvard Square, Café Sushi boasts a long list of traditional and signature rolls all at affordable prices and combines flavors you may not typically be accustomed to, like lemon and salmon (delicious!). They also offer several appetizers and regular entrees, as well as the freshest Nigri and Sashimi you’ll ever taste. Cap things off with some ice cream and tea and you’ll leave satisfied and ready for next time.

In A Pickle

Though technically not New England cuisine, I still felt it needed to be included in this short list because it is just that good. Frequently voted one of the best places to get an American breakfast in the whole city, visited (and loved!) by Guy Fieri from Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, and consistently a “Travelers Choice” on TripAdvisor, this place really delivers. From the massive list of fresh omelets served with home-made fries, delicious egg and meat plates, or the sweet (and I mean sweet… as in M&M, Reese’s, Oreo, and cookie dough) waffle and pancake choices, you will never run out of options at In A Pickle!

Next time you’re in Boston, pass up the large, national chains like Wendy’s or McDonald’s. Instead, explore delicious, quality local eateries like Legal Sea Foods, Cafe Sushi, and In A Pickle. Just remember to post about them on Jetzy!
