The Jewish Community Center of Staten Island held their Annual Golf & Tennis Classic on Monday, July 18th at the Richmond County Country Club. This was the 36th year that the event was held to benefit the Isador Aberlin/Ed Rovner Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Our generous sponsors, and those who participated in the day’s events, helped us raise funds to meet the increasing requests for financial assistance for children to attend nursery school and summer camp. These are the children of the working mother and father, the single parent, or just parents who cannot absorb today’s rising costs.

This year’s outstanding honorees were Dr. Denny Julewicz, Steven K. Sayegh and CFS Investments, Inc., Eden II and the Ajello Family.

Bocce, which was added to the day’s activities, turned out to be a great addition to a fun filled day for all the participants.

The BBQ dinner was enjoyed by all the players where they were joined by community guests, and family and friends of the honorees. Awards were given for all the activities, a live auction was led by Dr. Larry Arann, a $10,000 grand prize drawing was held and beautiful raffle baskets were available.

It seems hard to believe that each year the JCC’s Annual Golf & Tennis Classic can top the year before. Everyone who was there for the day would say it’s true.
